I got to photograph an intimate wedding this past weekend, and I will never not love small celebrations. Here. For. It.
Derek + Rolanda said their vows on a *beautifully* sunny March afternoon surrounded by their family and closest friends.
Here’s a little peek into their day!
Derek + Rolanda opted out of going with ‘typical’ rings. I loved that their choice of wedding bands was personal and creatively their own.
Derek literally fashioned his own ring. Just like that.
Rolanda fell in love with tourmaline quartz, so when Derek was looking for the perfect ring for her, rather than just ‘order it and hope for the best,’ he drove her all the way to Maryland to make sure it was everything she wanted. Pretty sure this wins some kind of romantic gesture award. She loved the ring, of course!
P.S. If you’re as obsessed with her ring as I was, you should check out the custom creations of Midwinter Co.
I do so enjoy love stories, and hearing how people fall in love. Sometime love happens in a flash – at first sight, and *sometimes* slow and over time after years of friendship. Derek + Rolanda’s is the latter, and it makes me wonder if the slow-marinading kind of love isn’t best of all.
*Their own take on the ‘piggy-back’ shot.* 😉
Also, can we take a sec to chat about this just-a-touch-moody bouquet?! Yes? I was pretty obsessed. It’s been a second since I’ve gotten to photograph one of Perla Flor Designs’ creations, and I always love her take on florals.
Gathering at the Farm is in a wide open space with fields surrounding which mean one thing…stunning sunsets and epic golden hour light. We took advantage.
D + R, thanks so much for trusting me to capture your day! It was an honor!
