GUYS. This bridal sesh with Jordan & Elizabeth has to be one of my all time favs for two reasons.
#1 Jordan & Elizabeth. Oh em geeeee. They are fire, and just happen to be some of Pete and I’s very best friends. Pete and Jordan got to know each other while they were both living in Brooklyn years ago, then we had the privilege of meeting his then girlfriend Elizabeth when we made a trip to the Big Apple for Pete’s thirtieth birthday a few years back. We fell in love with Elizabeth on the spot, and have all been pals ever since. Suffice it to say, Pete and I were thrilled when Jordan finally proposed to Elizabeth.
#2 NYC. I don’t feel like I need to expand on that further. Those three letters speak for themselves.
Combine these two factors and you can understand why I have all the big, happy feels about this shoot. And no, it wasn’t a styled shoot. For those of you not familiar with wedding photographer lingo, a bridal session is simply photos of you and your man in your wedding attire on a day other than your actual wedding day. Bridal sessions are a fantastic solution if you have epic vision for your wedding portraits but can’t quite make it work logistically for any reason on your actual wedding day (location, bad weather, you-name-it). Logistics were the complicating factor for J+E. Their wedding venue was the stunning Fox Hollow in Long Island, but they had sentimental (and aesthetic) reasons for wanting their wedding portraits at Brooklyn Bridge Park. The catch? The Fox Hollow and Brooklyn Bridge Park are an hour apart, and that’s without the added complication of New York City traffic. The answer? Bridal session. We simply planned their portraits for the evening following their wedding day. And it was PERFECT. Typically, the area around Jane’s Carousel is crowded with tourists. The evening of their session it was overcast with just a bit of fog hovering, meaning the boardwalk was MUCH less populated than say – a night with a typical sunset. Umm, thanks, Jesus, yes, we will totally take some moody light and chance of rain if it means we get the boardwalk practically to ourselves. *all the praise hands*
Without further ado, enjoy this little peek at their wedding portraits.
Trying to decide if the pic above or below is my fav. Above is classic J+E – goofy, fun, ridiculous awesomeness. Below is the subsequent laughter that followed the aforementioned craziness, and I adore both shots. Moral of the story? It’s fantastic to not put on airs and just be your bad self in front of the camera. You being you = always best. 😉
As dusk gave way to night, we took advantage of the interesting lighting, then headed to get some night photos along the water. Jordan + Elizabeth, thanks again for trusting me to capture these sweet memories for you. You guys are nothing short of amazing, and it was an honor to have you in front of my lens!
