Brett + Anita are getting married in two days and I decided it’s high time to share this peek into their sweet engagement session from last fall! Love stories are my fav, ya’ll. And Brett & Anita’s is just too fun cause get this – they ‘met’ on the set of the Netflix movie Underdogs. Anita’s summer job was to help with casting for the movie. The storyline of the movie is centered around football, so there was a lot of football player casting, and Anita joked that she was going to meet her husband on the set of this movie. (No really, she was joking!) But fate wasn’t, and one night as she was going over applicants for the different roles, she came across Brett’s application. She did what any single girl in her right mind does when she comes across a cute guy’s application – she looked him up on Facebook. ?Now you should know, Brett’s last name is a tough one to spell so she just typed in the first few letters of his last name, and up popped his profile – at which point she discovered that he’d attended college with her sister. #convenient A phone call to her sister and one exceptionally fun fourth of July weekend later, their relationship had taken flight.
Family and friends mean the world to Brett + Anita so when Brett was plotting his proposal, it was a no brainer to include them in his plan to surprise Anita while they were on vacation…and she really tells the story best so here it is from her perspective…

“Brett and I went on a trip with 13 of our friends to Captiva Island, Florida. We had the entire week planned down to the very last minute. Every meal planned a month in advance (Brett’s always thinking food)! We had the August 9 evening planned to take “couple sunset photos” before dinner with my camera. I took a few photos of some of the couples. They insisted it was our turn. We smiled for a few at my camera and then I turned and Brett is down on one knee asking me to marry him. He proposed and asked the biggest question in front of all of my best friends. My dad and step mom flew in for the proposal and watched it as they walked down beach! It was honestly the best day of my life full of so many surprises and emotions!!!”
During the last part of the session, Brett expressed just how proud he was of Anita for the way she had cared for the hearts of her kids at her past teaching position. He couldn’t get done talking about the impact she’d made on their lives. He told me how some of the kids had cried when she left, and what an amazing experience it was for him to witness her being honored. I think Anita probably knew Brett was proud of her but I believe there is something reverent and beautiful about speaking life to those we love. It was such a sweet moment to witnesss (and photograph)!
Brett & Anita – thanks so much for trusting me to capture this sweet season of life for you! So excited for your day!
